Metro Atlanta Civil Engineering

Areas We Serve

Mack Engineering is a Georgia-registered Professional Engineering firm based in Alpharetta. We provide civil engineering, land development, stormwater design, site planning, and feasibility services for developers, investors, and property owners building across Metro Atlanta and North Georgia.

We are not a generalist firm. We work exclusively in Georgia and maintain current, working knowledge of the development codes, stormwater manuals, tree ordinances, and permitting processes in every jurisdiction we serve. Every project is managed by a licensed PE with direct experience in the city and county where your project will be permitted.

Fulton County Service Areas

Fulton County encompasses Atlanta and several of North Atlanta’s most active development markets. Each city within Fulton County administers its own development review process with distinct code requirements, overlay districts, and stormwater standards.

Civil Engineering Services in Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta is one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the Southeast. Mack Engineering provides full-service civil engineering for mixed-use, commercial, and residential development in Atlanta and across Fulton County. We specialize in Atlanta’s post-development stormwater ordinance, 75-foot riparian buffer compliance, tree protection under Chapter 158, and land disturbance permit submittal through the city’s Accela system.

Civil Engineering Services in Alpharetta, Georgia

Alpharetta is Mack Engineering’s home market. We provide civil engineering and land development services for projects throughout the city and North Fulton County, with deep familiarity with Alpharetta’s Unified Development Code, Alpha Loop and Avalon mixed-use corridors, and Community Development review process. We work within this jurisdiction daily.

Civil Engineering Services in Milton, Georgia

Milton is defined by large-lot estate subdivisions, equestrian properties, and strict zoning controls that shape every development project. Mack Engineering has direct project experience in Milton, having engineered Manor Estates — a 6-lot gated luxury estate community near The Manor Golf and Country Club. We specialize in Milton’s heritage tree requirements, riparian buffer compliance along Chattahoochee River tributaries, and septic system coordination for unsewered parcels.

Civil Engineering Services in Roswell, Georgia

Roswell is North Fulton County’s largest suburb with a diverse mix of infill redevelopment, mixed-use corridors, and historic district projects. We specialize in Roswell’s Unified Development Code, Big Creek and Chattahoochee River watershed stormwater compliance, tree canopy requirements, and Historic Roswell overlay design review.

Civil Engineering Services in Johns Creek, Georgia

Johns Creek is a mature suburban market where development activity is focused on redevelopment and infill. Key regulatory factors include a 1,000 sq ft land disturbance threshold — significantly lower than surrounding jurisdictions — and Chattahoochee River Corridor Certificate requirements administered by the Atlanta Regional Commission. We specialize in navigating both.

Forsyth County Service Areas

Forsyth County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States. The county’s supplemental stormwater manual, multi-department review process, and tree density ordinance create a permitting environment that requires engineers with current, specific knowledge of county requirements.

Civil Engineering Services in Cumming, Georgia

Cumming is the county seat of Forsyth County and the hub of one of Georgia’s most active development markets. Mack Engineering provides civil engineering and land development services for residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects throughout Forsyth County. We specialize in the county’s supplemental stormwater management manual, Unified Development Code, tree density calculations under Ordinance 98, and as-built coordination for Certificate of Occupancy.

Cobb County Service Areas

Cobb County’s northwest corridor along I-75 and I-575 is an active market for residential, commercial, and institutional development. Cobb County stormwater standards follow the Georgia Stormwater Management Manual with additional local requirements for downstream analysis and discharge control.

Civil Engineering Services in Kennesaw, Georgia

Kennesaw is a growing city in northwest Cobb County with active development along Barrett Parkway, near Kennesaw State University, and along the I-75 corridor. Mack Engineering provides civil engineering and site development services for residential, commercial, and institutional projects throughout Kennesaw and Cobb County.

Cherokee County Service Areas

Cherokee County is among Metro Atlanta’s most active development markets for residential subdivisions and mixed-use growth. The county’s Development Service Center administers land disturbance permits with specific requirements for hydrology reports, stormwater detention, tree preservation, and stream buffer compliance under Articles 10 and 27 of the Zoning Ordinance.

Civil Engineering Services in Canton, Georgia

Canton is the county seat of Cherokee County and one of the region’s fastest-growing cities. Mack Engineering has direct project experience in Canton, including Trinity Oaks Estates and Iron Mill Estates. We specialize in Cherokee County’s hydrology report requirements, 80% TSS stormwater removal standards, stream buffer compliance, and tree preservation under Article 27.

Civil Engineering Services in Woodstock, Georgia

Woodstock is one of Metro Atlanta’s fastest-growing suburbs with active mixed-use development in its revitalized downtown Mill District and continued residential growth in surrounding neighborhoods. Development in Woodstock involves dual-jurisdiction coordination between the city’s Community Development Department and Cherokee County’s Development Service Center — a process Mack Engineering navigates routinely.

Civil Engineering Services in Holly Springs, Georgia

Holly Springs has seen its population more than double over the past decade. Development follows Cherokee County’s engineering and permitting standards, with land disturbance permits administered through the county’s Development Service Center. We specialize in Cherokee County stormwater detention design, tree preservation plans, stream buffer compliance, and impact fee feasibility analysis for Holly Springs development projects.

Civil Engineering Services in Ball Ground, Georgia

Ball Ground is northern Cherokee County’s fastest-growing small town, with population growth exceeding 50% since 2020. Development involves a unique dual-jurisdiction structure where the city manages development review while Cherokee County administers stormwater and land disturbance standards. We specialize in coordinating between Ball Ground Planning and Cherokee County’s Development Service Center, floodplain analysis, and agricultural-to-residential conversion engineering.

Civil Engineering Services Across All Markets

Mack Engineering provides the following services in every jurisdiction listed above:

Why Jurisdiction-Specific Engineering Matters in Georgia

Metro Atlanta and North Georgia do not operate under a single unified development standard. Each county and municipality maintains its own:

  • Development code and zoning ordinance
  • Stormwater management manual and detention requirements
  • Tree ordinance and canopy preservation standards
  • Stream buffer and riparian setback requirements
  • Land disturbance permit thresholds and submittal processes

A plan that meets Forsyth County’s stormwater requirements may not satisfy Atlanta’s green infrastructure ordinance. A tree preservation plan that passes Cherokee County review may not meet Johns Creek’s Chapter 109 density calculations. Generic civil engineering plans fail local review — costing developers time, money, and project momentum.

Mack Engineering engineers jurisdiction-specific plans for every project. We know the codes, the staff, and the process in every market we serve.
